Oracle Database Administrator

PCN is seeking a Oracle Database Administrator. DBA will be responsible for all administrative and security functions as defined below. The DBA’s responsibilities include support for all platforms (UNIX, Wintel, and Linux for on premise and cloud based platforms). The DBA’s core competencies will include responsibility for administration of all activities in the production, deployment and development environments as it pertains to Oracle and MS SQL server databases. In addition, the DBA will help support AWS and Azure platforms supporting Oracle, SQL Server, Redshift, and Dynamo.   DBSupport hours include coverage for 7*24*365 operations.



Skill Set:


Oracle Database Administration tools namely Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g/12c, RMAN, Data guard, streams, advanced compression, data pump, Oracle Golden Gate, Solaris, windows, Linux, Oracle Enterprise Manager, partitions

  • Develop and enforce clients database operational standards, guidelines and operational policies and procedures
  • Work with Change management and have a core expertise with issues relating to problem management
  • Review performance, maintenance and utilities associated with each structure (i.e., REORGS, LOAD, UNLOADS, REPORTS)
  • Review necessary storage media (DASD and Tape, SAN, NAS) performance dependencies
  • Review SQL performance and Tuning
  • Review application access to the database structures
  • Review backup & recovery strategies
  • Review the purge/archive criteria for data retention/capacity management
  • Monitor database/subsystem performance issues
  • Review Migration Plans (upgrades, patches, and releases)
  • Review database interfaces
  • Responsible for providing reports to IT security auditing
  • Review operating level agreements (OLA) for databases with internal and external partners
  • Review backup & recovery strategies for faster RTO and RPOs
  • Identify areas for database consolidation
  • Ensure appropriate users/authority are in place
  • Review reports to ensure continuous database operations (i.e., database storage, memory, CPU, network usage, and I/O contention)
  • Red Hat Certification
  • ITIL V3 foundation certification
  • Support databases on AWS and have a working knowledge of services such as Compute, Storage, Database, Network, Migration, Security and Identity, Management tools, etc.
